💭 “I Don’t Think She Likes Me: When Doubt Creeps In”

Let’s talk about it — that moment when you leave a meeting, pass another teacher in the hall, or finish a conversation with your admin and think:

“I don’t think she likes me.”

Cue the spiral:

Did I say something weird? Am I being too sensitive? Am I not fitting in? Should I just Google jobs at Trader Joe’s??

First of all: you’re not crazy.

 You’re not alone.

And you're definitely not the only teacher who’s felt this way.

🧠 The Hidden Truth of Teaching: It's Personal… and That’s Hard

Teaching is personal. You're not just delivering lessons — you're putting your heart, your voice, and your whole self into a space full of people (and personalities). That vulnerability? It’s exhausting.

And sometimes, when you're still learning the building, the people, the system… you can’t help but wonder where you stand.

👀 But Here’s What’s Also True:

1. You don’t need everyone to like you.

 Really. That’s not the goal.

Focus on respect > popularity. Trust > approval. Professionalism > people-pleasing.

2. Some people are just… people.

A short tone or blank expression might have nothing to do with you. They might be tired. Overwhelmed. Or just not warm and fuzzy — and that’s okay.

3. It’s okay to feel it. But don’t feed it.

Check your inner dialogue. Would you talk to your students the way you talk to yourself?

“Maybe she’s just not my person — and that’s okay.” “I’m still new. Relationships take time.” Say that to yourself. Every time the doubt creeps in.

🙋🏽‍♀️ Teacher Tip: Find Your One

You don’t need a clique — but you do need one person you can go to.

That colleague who sees you. Supports you. Reminds you you’re not alone.

Don’t force it. Just keep showing up as yourself — that connection will come.

❤️ Final Reminder

You’re not here to be liked. You’re here to be effective. Authentic. Caring.

 The rest? Bonus.

Keep showing up. Keep teaching with heart.

Because even if someone doesn’t “get you” — your students will.

Class is still in session — and your presence matters.
