September always feels like a little reset.
The routines are changing, the days are getting a little shorter, and somewhere between the back-to-school hustle and the first hints of fall, there’s an opportunity to slow down and reconnect.
And what better way to do that than with a good book?
This month, I’m leaning into fall reading without making it feel like another assignment. Just a book, a little conversation, and maybe something simple to create, notice, or explore afterward.
Because sometimes the best reading moments happen when we stop trying to make them complicated.
A story can spark a question at the dinner table.
A picture book can turn into a walk outside.
A character can give us something to talk about.
A simple activity can turn “We finished the book” into “Remember when we did that?”
That’s the kind of reading I love.
Throughout September, I’ll be sharing a few seasonal favorites along with easy conversation starters and low-cost activities inspired by each story. They’re ideas educators can share with families, but they’re also for anyone who loves reading, creating, and finding a little more meaning in the stories we share.
So grab a book. Sit for a while. Ask a question you might not normally ask. Make something. Go outside. Notice the changing leaves.
Read a little. Talk a little. Create a little.
That sounds like a pretty good way to welcome fall to me. 🍂📚✨
