September Physical Space Reset: Making Room for Fall

There’s something about September that feels like a deep breath.

Summer is winding down, the days are starting to feel a little different, and suddenly the rest of the year seems to be waiting for us.

I always notice this shift around this time of year. The slower pace of summer starts giving way to fuller calendars, cooler days, football season, holidays, school events, and all the things that make the final months of the year feel like they move twice as fast.

And honestly, I'm ready for it.

Not necessarily for more—but for a change of pace.

This month, my physical reset is less about cleaning everything and more about making room for the season I'm stepping into.

I've already done the big decluttering projects. Now I want my home to feel comfortable, functional, and ready for fall. A few small changes can make a space feel completely different without turning it into another overwhelming project.

I'm thinking fresh bedding, a little organizing, getting rid of the things that have found their way into random places, and making the spaces I use most feel a little more intentional.

Because sometimes our homes need to transition with us.

What worked for me in July may not be what I need in September. And that's okay.

The same is true personally.

September gives me a chance to think about what I want the rest of the year to feel like. Not just what I want to accomplish, but how I want to feel while I'm doing it.

Personally, I'm looking forward to settling into a rhythm that feels a little more grounded. Professionally, I'm looking forward to continuing to grow, creating meaningful experiences for my students, and seeing what this school year has in store.

There's still plenty of year left.

And I don't want to rush through it trying to get everything done.

I want to enjoy it.

So this September, I'm making room—not just in my home, but in my schedule, my mindset, and my life—for the things that matter.

With the end of summer fast approaching, what are you most looking forward to this fall—personally and professionally?

Maybe it's a new routine. A career goal. More time with family. A creative project. A fresh start. Or simply the opportunity to slow down and enjoy the season.

Whatever it is, I'd love to hear about it.

What are you making room for this fall?
